(Boca Raton, FL – April 4, 2006) The late Leslie Josephson began his career at the age of 48 when he was commissioned for an exhibit at the Royal Mile Gallery in Edinburgh. Scotland. Within two years he had retired from his first career as a shopkeeper to devote his life to his painting.

Josephson emphasized shape and movement in each distinctively designed piece. He has been noted for his use of “unique colors, textures and soft forms” The multi-talented Josephson received commissions for nine artistic styles of paintings.

Josephson was inspired and influenced by classic styles, particularly related to feminine forms. His consistent search for more definite lines associated with the classics have created a uniquely, undated and elegant look. His pieces have the ability to fit a variety of design moods from the contemporary to the traditional.

In his native Scotland, Josephson was known as the “Soapbox Artist”: because of his unusual use of household items including spatulas, glass ornaments and other kitchen utensils in Lieu of paintbrush. He would later be known throughout the United Kingdom as “Nine Artists in One” due to the wide proliferation of styles of his paintings.

Josephson’s work has been exhibited and purchased around the world from North America and Europe to Israel. His paintings are currently in the collections of and hanging in the boardrooms of Alitalia Airlines in Rome to Sidney, Australia. Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner) of the British soap opera “Coronation Street” owns a collection of Mr. Josephson’s paintings along with soccer stars Bertie Auld, Willy Waddell and Jock Wallace. Benno Schotz, Queen Elizabeth’s personal sculptor, became a close friend of Mr. Josephson and owns several paintings.

While alive, Josephson rarely accepted money for his works, He had given many to friends, has presented others to organizations to sell for their fund raising. The late Mr. Josephson said he did this “because working about money would spoil the sheer pleasure I get from panting.”
